Thai Pongal is a harvest festival celebrated by the Tamil community. It is a celebration to thank the Sun, Mother Nature and the various farm animals that help to contribute to a bountiful harvest.
Thai Pongal also marks the beginning of the Tamil month called Thai, which is considered an auspicious month.
In Sydney Murugan temple, we celebrate on Monday 15th January 2024. We invite you to join our special Thai Pongal Pooja and celebration.

5:30 AM Murugan (Utshavar) Abhiseka, & Vinayagar (Utshavar) Abhiseka
5:45 AM Pongal – front of Raja Kopuram (Holy tower)
6:50 AM Special Pooja – Sun (Soorya)
7:00 AM Morning Pooja & Aarati
10:00 AM Second Pooja & Aarati
11:00 AM Bhajans- Group devotional singing.
12:00 Noon Special Pooja & Aarati followed by
12:30 PM Annathanam – Free lunch will be served
